National Ice Cream Month

2000

President Ronald Reagan declared July as National Ice Cream month back in 1984, and boy are we glad that he did! I don’t know about you, but in my household we love ice cream. While it’s fun to go out for it, sometimes it’s even better to make it at home. Did you know that you don’t even need an ice cream maker to do it? Below you will find several, easy ice cream recipes that your kids (and you) will love!

Strawberry Cheesecake
You’ll Need:
– 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14.5 ounces)
– 8 ounces cream cheese
– 1 tub Cool Whip
– 4 graham crackers
– ½ cup butter
– 1 can strawberry pie filling (21 ounces)
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon lemon juice

To Make:
Place half of the butter, lemon juice, vanilla extract, Cool whip, cream cheese and condensed milk in a bowl to form the ice cream batter. Use a hand mixer to blend it until smooth. Put the other half of the butter and the graham crackers into a blender until the mixture is crumbly. Pour it into the bowl with the ice cream batter. Add in the pie filling. Use a spoon to fold in the ingredients. Pour the mixture into a bowl and let freeze, covered, for about 4 hours.

– ½ cup dry sugar cookie mix

Place the Cool Whip in a bowl and set aside. Put the condensed milk in a
separate bowl and add in the sugar cookie mix and use a whisk to
combine. Pour the mixture into the bowl with the Cool Whip and mix.
Add the animal crackers and sprinkles and mix together. Freeze, covered,
for about 6 hours.
